Wildlife tracking in the Pantanal

6 days / 5 nights

Day 1: Cuiabá Airport - Ueso Pantanal Lodge (4 nights)

After picking up your luggage at the airport, you’ll be greeted by our UeSo Lodge transfer guide holding a sign «UeSo Pantanal» at the exit. From there, we head out—about 100 km to Poconé, followed by another 38 km along the legendary Transpantaneira. Keep your eyes open! You might already spot wildlife like caimans, capybaras, jabiru storks, and a variety of bird species along the way. Once you arrive at the UeSo Pantanal Lodge, you’ll be able to enjoy a buffet meal—depending on your arrival time. Please note: if you arrive in Cuiabá after 10:30 a.m., lunch won’t be available. After 5:30 p.m., dinner isn’t served either. But don’t worry—we’ll provide a small packed lunch for you in that case.
After lunch and a short siesta, we’ll head out on a guided walk through the surrounding nature. With some luck, you’ll spot even more wildlife along the trail. If you like, you can help scatter a bit of corn and salt along the path to attract animals. For the adventurous, we also offer an optional night walk to search for crepuscular wildlife. Don’t forget your flashlight!

Day 2: Ueso Pantanal Lodge

In the early morning, around 5:00 a.m., we set off on a sunrise walking tour. Before that, you can enjoy a quick coffee or tea. Watching the Pantanal wake up is a magical experience that will stay with you. After breakfast, it’s time for a horseback (or muleback!) ride – just like the Pantaneiros have done for generations. No riding experience needed! You’re welcome to help saddle and unsaddle, and of course, we provide riding helmets for safety. Lunch is served buffet-style at the lodge. In the late afternoon, after a well-earned siesta, we hop in the car and drive along the Transpantaneira. The Pantanal’s wildlife always has a surprise or two – we hope to spot plenty of birds, including the tuiuiú (jabiru stork) and jacarés (caimans). With a bit of luck, we might even catch a glimpse of a tapir or a giant anteater. Back at the lodge, we wrap up the day with a delicious dinner.

Day 3: Ueso Pantanal Lodge

AAfter breakfast, we head out on a boat tour – no motor, just muscle power! Our guides paddle the boats by hand, and you're welcome to join in if you feel like it. This quiet approach keeps things peaceful and avoids the engine noise that can scare off shy birds. Of course, life jackets are provided. After lunch, it’s time to relax by the pool. Later in the afternoon, we go on a walking tour to one of our lookout towers, where we hope to spot monkeys. You’re also welcome to scatter a bit of corn and salt along the forest path – it might help attract some curious visitors. Dinner is served buffet-style at the lodge.
If you're up for it, we offer a night safari after dinner – a chance to spot some of the Pantanal’s more elusive, nocturnal animals.

Day 4: Ueso Pantanal Lodge

After breakfast, we head out on our second mule ride – always with a helmet on, of course! We’ll ride through the stunning Pantanal once again, keeping our eyes open for more amazing wildlife encounters.  After lunch, it’s time to unwind – by the pool or in a hammock, your choice. In the afternoon, you can join another boat tour on the nearby Rio Novo or Rio Claro. With a bit of luck, we might spot a family of giant otters, lots of birds, and maybe even a tapir. You're welcome to help with the paddling, and of course, life jackets are provided.

Day 5: Ueso Pantanal Lodge

In the early morning, around 5:00 a.m., we set off on another walking tour in search of wildlife. Moving quietly and slowly gives us a better chance of spotting animals in their natural habitat.  Afterwards, we return to the lodge and enjoy a well-earned breakfast. Later in the morning, you’re welcome to explore the marked walking trails on your own – just let your guide know beforehand.  In the late afternoon, we head out again by vehicle along the Transpantaneira, keeping our eyes peeled for more wild animals.

Day 6: Ueso Pantanal Lodge - Cuiabá Airport

After a hearty breakfast buffet at UeSo Pantanal, it’s time for your transfer to the airport. If your flight is in the afternoon, you have the option to join a morning walking or boat tour. In that case, the transfer will take place after lunch.
