Frequently asked questions

Here you’ll find more information about your trip to the Pantanal and your stay at the UeSo Pantanal Lodge.

... frequently asked questions

The Pantanal is worth visiting year-round.
From May to September, the dry season draws many animals to the remaining waterholes, making wildlife spotting especially easy. In the rainy season, from November to April, the landscape transforms — everything turns lush and green. While jaguar safaris in Porto Jofre aren't possible during this time, the experience is still unforgettable: mammals and birds concentrate on the higher ground, offering great viewing opportunities.

No special vaccinations are required for the Pantanal.
Apart from the standard tetanus shot — recommended worldwide — no additional vaccinations are needed for this region. Malaria is not present here. To protect yourself from mosquitoes, all rooms have window nets. Using mosquito spray and wearing light-colored (but not neon-bright) clothing also helps keep the bugs away.

Water supply at the lodge
The Pantanal has no clean natural springs. We use groundwater for our bathrooms, laundry, garden, and animals. It’s naturally filtered and treated through sedimentation and filters — and our local stomachs are well adapted to it. The water quality is also fine for brushing your teeth. For drinking, we provide bottled water from Cuiabá. We hope you understand that we charge the following prices for it:

1,5 l table water (Pet), 9 BRL
0.5 l table water (Pet), 6 BRL
1.5 l sparkling mineral water (Pet), 10 BRL

Chalana barco Chalana camarote

Our friendly horses are perfect for riders of all experience levels, and will take you through the Pantanal. We provide riding helmets for your safety.

Our boats are equipped with paddles, and some also have electric motors, as petrol engines tend to scare the wildlife. However, for the Jaguar tours, we do rely on petrol engines due to the long distances. Please note that between November and May, Jaguar river tours are unavailable due to the high water levels at the starting point, Porto Jofre.

Although the airport is called "Marechal Rondon International Airport", it can only be reached via domestic connections. If you are coming from outside Brazil, you will most likely arrive via Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia or São Paulo.

Drohne im Schlafmodus

Please put your drone into sleep mode.

Wildlife, especially birds, can be disturbed by drones in their natural habitat. Some birds of prey even attack drones, or leave their home and hunting areas. For the animals, the drone represents a threat that invades their space. We greatly appreciate your respect for nature. Thank you!

We offer jaguar safaris year-round. During the dry season, from June to November, the jaguar safari is usually available. In the «green» season, the availability of the tour depends on rainfall and whether the road to Porto Jofre is passable. If we are unable to offer the jaguar safari during the rainy season, you will receive a discount on the total price.

Travel postponements within the same year or to the following year are free of charge.
For cancellations, the following conditions apply:

• After payment: 10% of the total amount
• 30 to 8 days before travel: 50% of the total amount
• 7 to 0 days before travel: 100% of the total amount
