The Pantanal can be visited all year round. During the dry season from May to September many animals gather at the waterholes. During the rainy season from November to April the vegetation grows and everything is green. During this time the jaguar safaris in Port Jofre are no longer possible. But a visit during the rainy season is also highly recommended. During this time mammals and birds gather on the raised plains.
Apart from the recommended tetanus vaccination, which is useful all over the world, no further vaccination is required for the Pantanal region. We do not have malaria in this area. Against mosquitoes a mosquito net protects you from the windows. A mosquitospry and wearing bright, but not neon-luminous clothes also helps against mosquitoes.
In the Pantanal there are no clean flow sources. We draw our water for the sanitary facilities, laundry, garden and animals from the groundwater. This is treated by natural sedimentation and filters. Our local stomachs also resist this water. The water is also of sufficient quality for brushing your teeth. For you, we provide drinking water from Cuiabá in standard bottles. We hope you understand that we charge the following prices for bottled water:
1,5 l table water (Pet), 9 BRL
0.5 l table water (Pet), 6 BRL
1.5 l sparkling mineral water (Pet), 10 BRL
Our bush hotel offers the following facilities:
Mosquito nets on windows
Air conditioning and ceiling fan in all rooms
Pool with hammocks and deckchairs
Wifi (fair use, 5 BRL/stay)
Shower and toilet in the rooms
Terry towels (changed when lying on the floor)
Small library with books
Free bike rental
Our good-natured horses carry even guests without riding experience through the Pantanal. We will provide you with a riding helmet.
Our boats are equipped with paddles and some of them with electric motors, because petrol engines scare away the wild animals. However, on the Jaguar tour we cannot do without the petrol engines, as the distances are very long. Between November and the end of May Jaguar tours on the river are not possible, because of the high water level in the starting point Porto Jofre.
Although the airport is called "Marechal Rondon International Airport", it can only be reached via domestic connections. If you are coming from outside Brazil, you will most likely arrive via Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia or São Paulo.

The Pantanal is teeming with life. Experience this for yourself!
You will find a small foretaste in our animal and plant lexicon.
Travel by plane to Brasil is possible now. (Status: 29.07.2020)
The entry on overland routes is still not possible.
Since the Pantanal is far away from the big city and is sparsely populated, we were spared from Corona here. To make sure that it remains that way and that we comply with the regulations of the Brazilian state, we have taken the following precautions:
Masks must be worn while driving. The driver also wears a mask.
Disinfectants will be available at the reception and liquid soaps can be found in the bathroom.
During the riding, boating and hiking trips, care is taken to ensure sufficient distance.
If necessary, the excursions are made in phases so that there are never too many visitors in one place.
Shared rooms and objects (deck chairs, tables, handles) are more frequently disinfected.
Furthermore, you need a valid health insurance certificate for the time in Brazil. You must present this to the airline when checking-in.
It is also not allowed to fly to Cuiaba via Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia, Paraíba, Tocantins or Rio Grande do Sul airports.
Fortunately, we are able to keep most of our staff busy and hope to welcome you back to the Pantanal despite the crisis. We need you!
You have to postpone or cancel your trip?
We will update this page as soon as new regulations appear.
